Circle Leader Wanted at Study Association Vuxenskolan
Are you independent, socially aware, and creative?
Are you passionate about people's ability to share knowledge, create, and develop based on their circumstances?
Then you might be our new circle leader! With us, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead activities together with and for participants.
The Study Association Vuxenskolan (SV) is now looking for an engaged circle leader who wants to make a difference in SV's folk education activities. Primarily, this concerns activities for target groups with various disabilities or dementia. Outreach at different residences or in collaboration with groups and associations. Activities for other target groups may also be relevant.
The placement location, Skellefteå, will be the hub for work conducted in Skellefteå municipality but will also involve collaborations with colleagues throughout Västerbotten. The position is a permanent part-time employment at 50%. A probationary period applies. Working hours will be arranged according to the needs of the target group but with some flexibility to combine with other engagements or jobs. Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.
In the activities we conduct for and with people with various disabilities or in residences, we make a significant difference for those who participate. By being present at residences and meeting points, we can offer folk education to those who cannot attend activities on their own. The circle leader is the joy spreader who, together with the groups, creates conversations and experiences.
The circle leader collaborates with SV's development managers and our partners to build a program with regular activities and meetings for the target group. During meetings, the circle leader presents an activity and leads discussions for exchanges among participants. The circle leader's knowledge and experience contribute to the activities we design.
The circle leader is supported by development managers and partners during planning and by a group of colleagues with similar assignments and experiences. SV provides all circle leaders with basic circle leader training.
Our activities have a wide variation in content and structure. They aim to provide new knowledge, opportunities to create, practice skills, social interaction, cultural experiences, and exchanges among participants. This can range from cooking for young people with neuropsychiatric disorders to memory training for seniors with dementia in a residence. The activities are made accessible and designed based on the current target group's needs and conditions so that everyone can participate on their terms.
Those who work with people living with dementia or other disabilities need great patience, experience, flexibility, to be low-arousal, able to start things over many times, and to be accepting and tolerant.
We are looking for someone who:
- Wants to contribute to the quality of life for the target group and finds joy in adapting activities so that everyone can participate according to their circumstances.
- Has experience and engagement for the target group.
- Is good at communication and can show patience and tolerance in dialogue with participants.
- Is flexible and can work independently, both in contact with, for example, residences and in carrying out activities.
- Can contribute ideas and engagement to develop our activities.
- Can collaborate with colleagues remotely and manage digital tools for documentation and reporting regarding the activities.
SV values the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and life experiences for the position. We are looking for someone who complements our team with their knowledge and experiences, with a strong emphasis on personal suitability.
Warm welcome to the Study Association Vuxenskolan!
The Study Association Vuxenskolan is a non-profit folk education organization with a vision of a society where people grow through knowledge, insight, and participation. We are one of Sweden's largest study associations and currently have activities in all municipalities in the country. Each year, we reach over 210,000 unique individuals in study circles, and many participate in two or more circles. Together with open arrangements, such as lectures and cultural programs, we reach about 3.5 million people with our activities across the country. It is our departments that ensure that study circles and cultural events take place and that they are directed towards the right participants.
Our values assert the principle of equal worth of all people based on fundamental human rights. Our view of education is based on the individual's ability to shape their life together with others. It is based on the individual's rights and obligations as an active citizen to take responsibility for a societal development that strengthens liberal democracy.
